Another video from www.mikeysrc.com

Little pet project of mine. I wanted to build a collapsible RC plane that I could take to remote locations to film interesting scenery. The first design was good but has some control issues I didn't like. It carried the weight well but required too much pilot input to fly.....probably because the fuselage was too short for the wings. So I scaled up my Sport Trainer http://mikeysrc.com/Sport-Trainer.html design and put two motors on it on the sides so I could put the camera in the middle.

Stay tuned for more videos from cameras on board this plane.

Planes uses either one 2200mah 11.1V lopo or 2 1300mah 11.1V lipos.
2 1000KV motors,
2 10 X 6 GWS direct drive style props.
2 40 amp esc's
4 servos

  • More great ideas. Is there a video on constructing a wing with the spars? Can you buy them pre-cut or do you have to make them?

  • @Antifraud THe spar on this plane was actually a pice of carbon fiber rod glued inder the wing. I don't often use carbon fiber however on this plane I did. A wooden downel can also be used to stiffen a wing.

  • Great video! Just a quick question. When you put 2 motors on a plane, do you use 2 ESC's? Or can they be linked to one?

What is the max. payload for your model? Looks pretty sturdy :)

  • @ehsanaman222 I use 2 ESC's.

  • hello Mikey thanks for sharing it with us ! very nice !

i can build nice RC planes but i always ended up crashing it to pieces... it's hurt me to spend many hours on it and then see it died... So I just stop building planes completely.. do you recommend any plane for newbie like me ?

I heard that you starts out with glider right and slowly upgrade to power planes ?

  • @AuroraCypher Yeah learning to fly can be frusterating. Stick with it, it gets more rewarding Go to my website and click on Scratch Built Aircraft. Click on Sport Trainer a little bit down the page. Build that plane and start with it. It's very easy to build and fly and has a complete set of How To Build videos to help you out.

  • Anyone want to send me a link of a vid showing how to put on a cam on your rc plane/helicopter?

  • Could you tell me how far apart the cuts should be for the airfoil cause I'm makine the sport trainer and I was thinking of putting a kf on it and a normal airfoil on it for comparison

  • @ehsanaman222 I use two motors with one ESC and they work perfectly well!!!! :))

But you should be aware of motor power and ESC Amps!

  • nice video!
