United States Air Force Thunderbirds Missing Man Formation

The missing man formation is flown to honor fallen comrades. As the formation passes overhead, one of the aircraft pulls up and flies skyward symbolizing the person who has been lost.

This formation is usually flown with four aircraft in a "finger four" formation. The four aircraft are two elements of two aircraft with on aircraft leading, one on his left wing, and two on his right wing. When the missing man formation is flown from the finger four, the aircraft immediately to the leader's right will pull up. The Thunderbirds fly this maneuver from their six aircraft delta formation, but the aircraft immediately to the leader's right is still the aircraft that pulls up.

This was one of the best videos I have seen with the exception of the early cut off. The planes flying off with the missing space is part of the power of the formation. It would be great if you have the original clip and can extend the view. I have seen this in person and it is one of the most powerful experiences I have ever had.
