Evolutionist? I'm an Archaeologist!

Good luck with your surgery.
And I like the KerPlunk analogy. I loved that game. These creationists are merely science hobbyists. There's nothing inherently wrong with that IMO. I'm a science 'hobbyist' myself. However, whenever I learn about something that seems to fly in the face of (what I perceive as) conventional science my first inclination is that I'm ignorant of some thing(s), not that I've exposed some great lie.
Creationists are deliberately ignorant intellectual narcissists.

@Hockeygod98 That's a good attitude. My problem with them is that they assume that they appear to think that dabbling in science or any subject allows then to stand on an equal footing with those who are professionals. That's why morons like NF think that his 'two whole years' of internet trolling on every subject he holds forth on qualifies him to pretend that people who devote their lives to science know less than him. It's arrogance of the lowest order. But refutable arrogance.

@falchion49: "Christian apologetics is a field of Christian theology that aims to present a rational basis for the Christian faith, defend the faith against objections, and expose the perceived flaws of other world views." - Wiki.
Again, misleading, just like 'Intelligent Design'. It also says they use philosophical debate and scientific and historical evidence. Well, good luck with that! I'm going to go gather a few more sources and then ask an Apologist to define 'Apologetics'.

@falchion49: of coz the creationists are not going to succeed in their little plan of overturning evolution with their patty "so-called-evidence" of disproof. However tho, I think we understand that the movement of creationist is mostly political(at least in the USA)... Therefore, I am not excluding the possibility of some powerful political force turning us all back to a bunch of medieval zealots.

Evolutionist? I'm an Archaeologist too. :)

Because they're desperate to prove their bollocks right and its an easy way for their limited brains to work.

Why they lump it all under one banner is because, in the words of AronRa, "its an attempt to minimise the sheer volume of sciences against their position"
Why throw it all under the one banner, evolutionism? Because all those sciences falling under that label contradict their Bible. Every theory dealing with deep time threatens their view of shallow time.

@zarkoff45 Shallow being the operative word. I agree but I'd add a rider, they feel threatened.

@wanderingape Looking at it, probably a couple of weeks. I'm on some pretty strong pain killers at the mo' as the Trigeminal Nerve has decide to pick this week to say 'Hi, I'm your Trigeminal nerve. You may remember me from such pains as this.......... And this............' I'm hoping Church Eaton will be a drink and fall over event.

A friend sent this vid to me, I love it! Glad to see that there are other archeologists out there who give a shit about evolution.

@ArchyFantasies (2) Also, I just wish they'd try to get the basics right. I'm not an 'evolutionist'. I'm an archaeologist who happens to accept the facts that my discipline and all of the other scientific disciplines have unearthed and checked against other facts. I accept the hypotheses that have been generated to explain these facts. Calling me or you an 'evolutionist' is laziness and lackof research on their part. Then again, what else do we expect ;-) ?
