These are alate females. They still have their wings. They come out at periods in the year and fly up into the air where they mate with a male (which is half the size with wings), once she males she will fly off and dig a hole and rip her wings off. Queens have no use for wings. All ants are females expect the small ants with wings, they are males. And they die soon after mating. That's not much fun. :(

It is just all the males and females mating. They shed their wings a while later.

I back onto a golf course and have major ant issues, every few years they will flood my basement
all have wings, atleast 100,000 ants gather for a few hours its fucking discusting

The males are smaller
there are some of them also walking around
but most of them where queens
