@lowcarbonhome you can buy on amazon - I use Flush Puppies - have been using them for about a year. anything in my yard I pick up with a pooper scooper and just literally flush down the toilet, and when out walking I use the Flush Puppies to pick up and then flush.

You should use biodegradable doggie bags, and EM1 instead of the 2 other products you used. Also - if you are okay with Vermicomposting, you should use Red Wigglers down there instead of any chemicals. Vermicomposting in this situation looks like it would work, to me.

Just bin it

I have set up a system similar to this for my bullmastiffs. We dont have Rid-X here so after a bit of research I found using freeze dried Yeast to have a better result at encouraging a healthy composting environment than with any other septic product.

Hi, I am about to try this method and have a large dog as well. Can you update how well it has been working? Has the waste composted well? Have you had to empty it? How is the smell? Thank you!!

when it becomes full what do you do with it ?
since leachants are possible, it is advised not to site the trashcan near the foundation of your house as it appears in this video.

It is actually next to the garage and about 50 feet from the house. Can you say more about about the kind of leachants you are refering to? It is very clay soil and I am told not much leaching takes place in that kind of soil. So far it has worked rather well except that it filled faster than I hoped with two dogs.

composting is great.. for those of us living in apt, I use flushable dog poop bags and let sewer system takes care of dog waste.
