This is a video of the 2008-2009 McNeil High School Wind Ensemble performing the Nation Emblem March by E. E. Bagley and edited by Fredrick Fennell at our Spring Concert. We were conducted by a woman who won an auction to conduct us who is actually a lawyer. This was the 4th of 4 pieces.
I played tenor saxophone in this piece.
This was recorded on May 22, 2009.
@ncskasweet6 There is trill in 2:05 by First, Second, and Third clarinet and possibly the flute section. I played the same piece before as second clarinet. However, I do agree there should be a sudden decrescendo in B to p and crescendo in C back to f. That did happen in my band I just played. Please do not mention the date and time I replied.

that conductor is an eyesore, she's like half a beat behind, but good try

Until I read it, the acting conductor looked quite natural. Was there someone actually conducting?

My band played this in highschool. I never quite got the hang of the cool coronet part near the end. It sounds cool though. One of my favorite marches.

@8070jack I played in an army band for 6 years before moving on and we played the original version by E.E. Bagley. I have never seen the trills but have clearly seen the decrescendo in the score. However the Pershing's Own does tend to set the standard and unless the "new" version got adapted as somehow being the way it is then I guess I can accept that. However if Bagle was still alive he would comment similarly to how I did. I will look into this further and update. I'm ok in being wrong

@ncskasweet6 Please listen to the President's own Marine band. Trills DO exist. Also please refer to the Marine band regarding your "decrescendo" comment......
I understand people who know what they are talking about being a "snob" however you only fit the second part of what I just said.

the only better performance of this that I have ever heard was in the uS capitol rotunda just after 9/11 with the combined army and marine corps bands performance! magnificent! resonating in the capitol rotunda

This appears to be a good group but this march is one that needs to have it all to be a great interpretation. 2 examples: B section has a decrescendo from f to p didn't happen. Trio no trills exist at 2:06 or anywhere in that section. However tempo and balance are excellent!
