Islamist: Any person who is a Muslim but also wants to revert to sharia'h as their way of life and legislation. The Islamists describe the period from 1876 to present as dark ages in Islam. Th reason being that in 1876 the Ottoman Caliph codified the shariah law and thus Islamic scholars lost power in the political system.There is a clear difference between an Islamist and a Muslim.
