My '06 Nissan Sentra 1.8L Special Edition (QG18 engine) with ebay short ram intake, ebay 4-2-1 header, Magnaflow cat, and Flowmaster 40 series muffler, with resonated tip. Stock 1.75" piping aside from the addons which are 2" or 2.25". Sounds so-so in this video, but in person it sounds deeper.

Next I installed a 12" Dynomax Bullet muffler/resonator after the catalytic converter and went with 2.25" piping all the way to muffler. That got rid of most of the raspy high pitched sound and loud drone inside, except under high load and 60+ mph. The price to pay with this muffler I assume.

It's an auto transmission, and still as slow as the day I got it. I have since gotten rid of this muffler in favor of a much less raspier and quieter Magnaflow 5x8 oval muffler.

  • Thats exactly how I want my exhaust! As quiet as possible. I'm definitely getting a magnaflow. I was thinking of a flowmaster 60 series but I was thinking that still might be too loud. I just don't know which magnaflow 5x8 to get. There's so many. Do you know the part number or the type of magnaflow muffler that you have? Is it a universal performore, street series, or the xl? Sorry for all of the questions man. I just want to buy the right muffler.

  • @JimmyF510

It's this one, but anything around this size should do, the exhaust piping on mine is custom 2.25" so you can choose the one according to your size. Right from ebay, it's still there.....

    2.25" C/C 4" Round 18" Body MagnaFlow Muffler SS 10425

  • Is the magnaflow muffler you put on a lot quieter than the flowmaster? I've been looking for something quieter for my car because I have a kid on the way and I don't want the kid going deaf in the back seat. Lol as of now, I have a loud ass annoying ES Tuning muffler with 2.25 inch piping on my Sentra. I was thinking of getting the flowmaster 60 series, but is now thinking of a magnaflow after reading your comments. Which magnaflow do you have? Do you remember the part number? Thanks in advanc

  • @JimmyF510 Yes, it's MUCH, much better and less embarrassing (with the Magnaflow). Haha. It's still deep and rumbles but without the nasty rasp or loudness/drone that this Flowmaster had. Still has some drone but mostly under acceleration and higher 65+ mph driving. In fact due to my 18" resonator I think it's a bit too quiet as far as any "characteristic "sounds, and you get a bit more of the what I call air fluttering standing behind the car, aside from the usual sound. Hope that helps. ;)

  • is ur check engine light on,if not how did u hook up the header? Do u still have the pre cat?

  • @abe10006 When I had this ebay header, the engine light was on all the time, (if I reset it, it would turn on after some 10-50 miles). I thought I could fix that when I had moved the #2 O2 sensor behind the main cat, so it could "see" cleaner air, but that didn't work (#2 O2 sensor is originally right after the pre-cat). I ran it that way for 8 months till it was time for inspection, I removed the header and put the original header/exhaust manifold/pre-cat back on now. 1.8L mods not worth it.

  • @FoxRacinf4 Because it's fun. And it was a learning experience, to see what I can get done and with how much money. Besides, if you read any of the other comments, you'll see that I hated this setup and changed it out. The Flowmaster no long Flows, instead a nice Magnaflow and a resonator now reside on my car. Besides, not all of us can afford nice cars when we want. Now that I learned, I put that to use on my Alti Coupe. ;) And at least it's not a grandma's Honda.

  • @puffyblunts It's OK, you can come out of the closet now. You just want me to be gay because you are desperate at trying to win an argument over the internet. If you want to do that, I hear they hold the special Olympics soon, you should join. Thanks for the compliment. My coupe's fast enough.
