833rd Ordnance Co Camp Ames Korea

Photos of the 833rd Ordnance Company at Camp Ames in 1969. Camp Ames was located at the Village of Chang Dong Ni and north of Taejeon. The 833rd Ordnance Co was assigned to the Field Army Support Command (FASCOM) of the 8th Army. We served from Dec 15,1968 to Jan 22,1970. Also Betsy Tibbs ( Recreation Center- very friendly person) In the Maintenance Platoon we were all dedicated Nuclear Weapons Maintenance Technicians trained by the Atomic Defense Support Agency (DASA) at Sandia base, Alberquerque New Mexico. Some of these guys became professionals, important people, civic leaders ,teachers, school principals, movie actors, producers and directores, writers, bussinesmen, salemen, technical workers, etc. and a few remained in the army for 20 years service. Most are now retired and some still comunicate with each through Internet. They were a bunch of great guys (Milt Keller`s words). Inspite of the hardship we did what we could to have fun. Just like the guys in MASH, TV series about Korean War medics and the movie Biloxi Blues. Adicional Note: The 833rd Ordnance Company was deactivated in 1992 and Camp Ames was closed shortly after. The Korean Army now has Camp Ames. The 883rd Ordnance Company was reactivated in Seneca, New York, That is where they are now. --------
