@ricanpinay you have a 5% chance of getting an apt like this one :-( and yes I went through a recruiter. my setup was all about great timing, i had a signed contract for another school and city that fell through right before Gwangju. Now I work for a small independent academy. Best wishes to you in Korea, you will have a blast!

Was a stroke of luck! There were two teachers at the school before me, and two small apartments. The school combined the two into this one big apartment, and they only hired me since the school did not have as many students. Just dumb luck.

@Ryans4hww There are two Gwangju cities in Korea, one is near Seoul area and the other is by far south.

Did you get to choose what type of apartment you would like? Number of bedrooms, flat share etc? I've got an interview tomorrow for my TESOL course which starts on Monday. Eek! South Korea is one country I'm thinking about teaching in.

As a guitar player of 8 years who is going to be teaching English in South Korea, I'm curious why there were guitars left behind at your apartment by previous English teachers.. :D

how did you manage to get such a nice place. I have seen some apartments and they are frankly quite awful in terms of space and location.

@DeeClosetOtaku nobody gets an apartment like mine :-(, expect one room and a porch, with a bathroom on the side, like a dorm room. be happy if you get something bigger.

It was a nice place close to the 시내. 봉성동 was a lot better than 북구 where I also spent 7 months. Overall I must say I love 광주 the people are so much kinder then in the 서울 area. The food too oh i miss it so much! 한국에 사는 동안 한국말을 배워세요?
