In 1988, WFNR radio, Christiansburg, Virginia, began a format of full-time bluegrass radio on its 710 AM frequency. John Carlin, news anchor at Roanoke's NBC TV affiliate, WSLS, introduces Ira Quillen's report in the spring of 1989 on the people and programming of WFNR. Bill Lineberry (Billy Bluegrass), "Bashful Bobby" and Ron Green are interviewed briefly. In one shot, "Dandy Don" Sumler, host of the Sunday morning gospel program can be seen standing in the background.
