Maybe someday there will be a GMO spaghetti and meatball tree!

(If you wait too long to pick the meatballs, they will overripen and try to bite you when you try to pick them. And instead of wrapping around your fork, the overripe spaghetti will try to wrap around YOU!)

Yeah, it probably was filmed at 4:3 for TV, then cropped recently for 16:9.

I believe that theatres had widescreen in '57 (at least in the US).

It was on a American morning nuzak (newz?) show, I didn't crop it, either it was made this way or they cropped it for 16:9.

Many years later, Danny Webb narrated a short video on the HSV 7 News in Melbourne, Australia, which reported that the spaghetti weevil had destroyed the spaghetti crops in Italy and Switzerland. The station received hundreds of phone calls from people offering donations of money to the poor farmers.

I would have sent them a cutting from my money tree.

(Don't pick the coins, they're not ripe yet! Wait until they ripen into bills!)

A friend saw it recently and believed every bit of it. He actually thought the artificial stuff we call spaghetti these days is totally tasteless compared to actual spaghetti!

I first heard about this prank back in 93 when youtube didn't even exist! When I first heard of "spaghetti squash", I actually thought it was an inexact reference to this. Had to google it to believe!

    Fantastic humour!

why wouldn't we believe it? I just wonder if there is enough warm sun in Switzerland to properly dry the spaghetti fruit.

@Bleustar Crash: What do you mean? what's there not to believe!

How do U think the USSR collapsed?

When Gorbachov visited Canada in 1985, we took him on an agriculture show-tour. He was amazed when he saw Canada's spaghetti plantations and begged us to sell them the seeds for the spaghetti tree, so he could feed the starving Soviets. We told him we would, on condition he renegs communism and allows Armenia to become independent. He agreed!

I wonder how many people believed it back then. I also wonder how many people would/do believe it now.
