Blue gi is my son, age 6 in 2005.
Performing basic stances with his partner in his Kenjutsu class. My son used to take lessons from the teachers of Jinmukai. The Jinmukai teachers used to travel to my son's dojo to teach Kenjustus to a small group of Karate students till my son's dojo closed. My son loved the teachers and swordsmanship but the nearest Jinmukai branch is a couple of hours away from our home and we had to give up. They have branches in many part of U.S. If you are interested in Kenjustsu, viist Jinmukai at http://martialartsfriends.com/Jinmu

  • dude your son is a badass, great skill to be so so young, arigato for the video.

  • Who knows, maybe he would understand it better when he is older (if he chooses not to do it anymore).

  • Well, everyone believes he has the potential, but he is a boy of multiple interests and I really don't know if it would be his thing. He is still very young and I do not wish to limit him down to one thing just because of the wish of us adults.

  • Yeah, it is usually uncommon, but cool. That's cool to hear. He'll make a fine Swordsman, maybe even a kensei, who knows. ^_^

  • My son started in October 2005. So, it's been a little over 2 years. He was 2 months short from turning 7 then. I was told that it is not very common to accept students so young in Kenjutsu schools, and my son was the youngest at his club at the time. The club is part of his Karate school, and his Kenjutsu teachers used to visit the dojo twice a month. Now the senior students drive up to the Kenjutsu teachers' school on Saturdays, and train the juniors on Friday nights at our dojo.

  • Wow, I love seeing young ones in Kenjutsu. How young did he start and what is the youngest you have seen doing it?
