For stability and to slow their rate of descent (two bodies would normally fall faster than just one).

If you don't get the pilot canopy out, the speed increases to the point at which it will damage the main canopy on deployment..

@pimptastic666 i think you got to do certain numuber of jumps before you can try out for the team like 200 or soemthing and beable to do flips etc. aint to sure though
