I've just begun training my goldfish Blaze, and he's well on his way to becoming a well trained fish!

We've been training using an R2 fish training kit, and so far he knows how to follow the feeding wand around the tank and how to swim through the hoop. I've been gradually making the hoop smaller, soon he'll have to squeeze to get through!

  • What kind of goldfishie is that

  • @Deancasser

    Hi there,

Thanks for the question! Blaze was just a regular old pet store goldfish. Any kind of fish can be trained! I've heard though, that fish that are bigger / older are generally easier to train.

    cheers,

    Mary

  • What's that pink thing sticking out of the wand?

  • @magicmanaic888 The pink part is the part of the wand that holds the food. You stick the food in there and then when you push on the top of the wand, the pink part pops back out, releasing the food.

  • @cheerioTrainer BTW how did you get the hoop? u made it?Got it from the R2 fish school package or etc. If u made it pls make a tutorial. Thanks!:)

  • @magicmanaic888 The hoop came with the R2 fish school package. The R2 fish school kit is a great deal-- it includes a feeding wand, props for a variety of tricks, and instruction booklet and an instructional DVD.

  • I don't think they do those tricks because it's fun. They do it to get fed. Too bad.

But it does show people that fish are SMART.

  • It would be interesting if you trained another comet to do the same thing. Then put the two fish together and they can compete like regular athletes. lol. That would be a Guinness Book record to beat all records. :D

  • You have a lot of patience to teach your fish to swim through a hoop...I applaud you

  • @vaimoanaeves just google R2 fish school. They sell the kit for about $30. It includes the feeding wand, the props for the tricks, written instructions, as well as a DVD that explains how to teach about a dozen tricks. Mary
