Almost twenty years after Rachel and Leah (1993), Achinoam Nini returns to the Israel Festival, together with her musical partner Gil Dor, in a premier performance marking the release of her exciting new album, based entirely on renditions of Israeli classics. The performance includes Bereshit, Yesh ey-sham, Makom le-de'aga, Zecharia Rachel, Hayu leilot and many other well-known titles.

The arranger and composer Ilan Mochiach is the musical director of the concert, which is accompanied by the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra.

Achinoam Nini, better known by her international stage name Noa, is one of the best-known Israeli singers in the world. Nini has collaborated and performed with leading names, including Sting, Stevie Wonder, Carlos Santana, Al Di Meola, Annie Lennox, Mercedes Sosa, and many others. She also gained fame when she performed before Pope John Paul II.
Achinoam Nini comments: "For many years, I only performed Israeli 'classics' very rarely. Now, after eight original albums and countless performances in Israel and around the world, I feel happy, confident, and ready to take on this new challenge. Gil Dor and I have chosen some of the beautiful and moving songs that have influenced us over the course of our own lives."

You can find this song on Noa's album "Eretz Shir" released in March 2011 by More Management (Israel)

Translation: Noa

All day long, the very manly rooster
Is all excited, like a new born babe!
Why is that? A very manly rooster,
All excited, as a new born babe?
Well, it seems, in the yard,
On the garbage heap,
He met, met, met,
An enchanting little hen !
Yes, on the garbage, heap, aha, aha,
He met, met, met,
An enchanting little hen!
(But, who is that, up on the heap?
Digging, lord knows how,
Without a shovel or plow!?)
Rooster, that I am,
Cock-a doodle-doo,
And no-one tends a garden as I do!
(Digging, lord knows how,
Without a shovel or plow!?)
...and then,
All the chicken coop together,
Raised a mighty clucking
On the poor old rooster's head!
Why is that?
All the chicken coop together,
Raising such a clucking
On the poor old rooster's head?
They said:
Well! That little hen you've been eyeing
Should just wait, wait, wait,
Very patiently in line!
For there is order here,
And there's a cue!
And she should wait, wait wait,
For that's the proper thing to do!
(But, who is that, still on the heap?
Digging and digging,
Still digging very deep??)
Ahhh!
Time has passed
The little hen's an old maid
She's still sitting
With not a thing to do
How is that?
The little hen, an old maid?
Why still sitting
with nothing much to do?
To this day her turn never came!
He never took her for a stroll, or even called her name!
And the rooster? Ahha!
He and his hen could not be lovers.
So the poor old chap just went ahead
And married all the others!
