Just figured it out after two years, haha. The chords you find, F#m A and E aren't meant to be played as normal chords. They're meant to be played kind of like power chords. So you do a power chord on the ninth of the fifth (second from top) string, an F#, then slide to the twelfth, which is an A, and then go up a string for all to play the E. Still, hats of to you.
