  • tnx for this..!

  • @cassey05 You're welcome!

  • i have a sigma 70-200mm and it uses 77mm filters, but i dont need the filtereffects itssel i just want a piece of glass on top to prodect the lens, so does a cheap ebay UV or IR filter affect the image quality?

  • @Spaeckli Hi! To simply protect the lens, even some of the less expensive UV filters will hardly effect the quality of your image. For example, a Hoya 77mm is about $65 and decent quality. But I know, you can get UV filters on eBay for around $5... I can't help but question how good those are, but they're so cheap it's almost worth a try if you want to save money.

As for IR filters, those are completely different beasts. Episodes 23 and 24 are on that topic if you want to know more about it.

  • @binarygraphite is there anithing on the market like a siple piece of transparent glass to screw on like a filter that's only for protection?

  • @Spaeckli Not that I personally know of; basically that's what a UV filter doubles as.

  • Definitely useful since I use film.

  • great explanation

  • @Ryanyarb24 Hi! Yes I do! I have a 10" Newtonian telescope and I've taken a few astrophotographs, mostly of the Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus. I have a tracking mount too, but I haven't yet taken long exposures of other objects. It is quite amazing. I frequently visit the Astronomy Picture of the Day and SpaceWeather websites; they often have some spectacular photos.

  • @binarygraphite Thank you verry much, gotta go clean my lense! hehe :P
