  • theres a song by "die fantastischen vier". "mfg" is the name. after that u will know a lot more german acronyms.

  • Thanks. I'll have a listen. I love those guys.

  • interesting observation, there is a funny one: vokuhila (=mullet: vorne kurz hinten lang ^^),

    somehow german doesn't invite as much to toy with language as english, maybe because its too complicated and semantically dense, its quite hard to bloviate in german too, we also have few neolisms, to a certain extent its certainly also due to anglosaxon influence as most people simply use english terms, only in the military we basically acronymize everything!

  • The military loves to make acronyms! If you search wikipedia for military acronyms, there is a HUGE list. Some of them are pretty funny.

  • was is ein acronyms?

  • An acronym is when you shorten a phrase by just using the first letters of each word (see discussion below).

  • adg9 = ach du grüne Neune

    ldb = lese die Bedienungsanleitung

    ldvb = lese die verdammte Bedienungsanleitung

    ilmw = ich lach mich weg

  • Meiner Meinung nach lässt sich über die Effizienz von Abkürzungen streiten, aber deine neuen deutschen Abkürzungen sind einfach genial!:D

  • Your really hilarious but i definantly think you should

    a) post longer videos

    b) post some that arent about germany lol

    i love the way you say

    "what the devil"

    =]

  • i think the most common ones are

    hdl -> hab dich lieb

    lg -> liebe grüße

    hdl can be expanded in many different ways, such as

    hdgdl -> hab dich ganz doll lieb

    hdgggggggdl

    hdsmhdl -> hab dich super mega hyper doll lieb etc.

  • kA for keine Ahnung is really common.

  • wenn einer in deutschland abkürzt dann ist es die bundeswehr

    lach mir meinen arsch ab ...lmmaa

  • and even in a very horrible american accent at that.

  • Aküfi = abkürzungsfimmel

  • very inspiring discussion here ^^

    i also like HONK = hauptschüler ohne nennenswerte kenntnisse ;)

    and in poker rooms we say gw for glückwunsch

    i miss rofl in your video

    oh,i just realized,i know tons of them,and i'm using them over and over again...there is a program called skype in which you can speak to other people and a lot of the people i know there are even speaking like this :D (lol,thx,wb,wtf) really weird ^^

  • lmaa is really very known, and there are things like: ild (ich liebe dich) or ssz (schreib schnell zurück, used in sms).

  • ok an germ. acronym LMAA ! lol
