Having had lower back issues and a serious bout of sciatica, my primary care folks told me no more traditional bike riding. I researched recumbents and decided on Cruzbike. I am loving it every time I ride it. I do wear a helmet when I am out on the streets/roads, but was in my yard to film what this bike is all about.

  • To Minnastarz: My inseam is about 29 inch and I never rode with the original bars only the Freedom ones. I didn't have any problems with my knees hitting the bars. I was riding with ease in a couple of days. Just reorienting the brain to recumbent over traditional. I haven't ridden for 4 months as I broke my ankle and haven't gotten back to the strength I need to ride. Where do you live?

  • I think the freerider bars makes it more open and not so cramped.

  • I haven't moved my seat up at this point, I just moved the front wheel bar as I needed to have the pedals out a tad bit more and it worked well for me. I saw in the instructions that you can move the seat and that was what I was going to do if moving the bar didn't work. My seat was put in by what the directions asked for. How do you like your new bike?

  • I am between 5'3" and 5'4". The front wheel drive can be moved up to accommodate your reach. Pretty simple to move that part. Hope that helps.

  • @Sharonsquirt Hi Sharonsquirt! What's your inseam and were your knees hitting the bars before you switched out the bars? How long did it take you to become at ease riding the Sofrider? Are the tires good for street and dirt? Is there anything you don't like about it? I'm trying to decide whether or not to buy one! Thanks!!

  • I changed my bars to the freerider bars today. World of difference! Great bike!

  • @Sharonsquirt I have been on it daily. Started going on the road a couple of days ago now that I feel more comfortable. I have only been riding about 12 miles per day so far. My knees were hitting the handlebars so I moved the seat forwrd. I think I am going to buy the freerider bars like you did. I have no back pain when I ride this bike and I also have no other problems that us guys get when we ride regular bikes. I am happy with it so far. I had it up to 21 mph last night.

  • I just purchased a sofrider ( lower back issues) and have been practicing off of the road for the past 3 days. I am only 5'5" and have a very short leg, 27". Do you have your seat positioned per the build instructions or did you move it forward? I have moved mine forward by using the other set of holes on the seat pan..
