I learned to dance this yesterday and I fell in love with it immediately. It is such a nice dance! It's funny how you dance this in Civil War costumes, while we are learning it as a Regency dance.

Since the Regency era pre-dated Civil War, this would have been a traditional dance at that time. Kindof like you going to a 2009 (modern) event and doing the Hokey Pokey.

This is an annual dance, always in late February. For details, check out my dance caller website. (Search for "karen contra caller.") It's open to the public (that means everyone!) and is reasonably priced, 5-1/2 hours of fun in downtown Lansing.
