The record is an extremely scratchy, hissy record of radio ads for the Rockport Army Store of Rockport, Missouri (formerly Browning's). It is a series of four ads for the various supplies you could get at the store. The date is 7/6/1960. The first track was totally scratched out. I worked on it more, so it turns out to be the cleanest sounding track. Note on the label they have it crossed out. The others have a lot of hiss. There's some kind of soap worked into the grooves, and you can see in the picture that the record has a white, powdery look. You'll probably want these two minutes of your life back. LOL. The record is 33 rpm, 12 inch. The other side has ads for another store or business. Like a homemade record, but of course a radio station made it. Here's an article about the person who owned the store, one of them anyway: http://findarticles.com/p/news-articles/st-joseph-news-press/mi_8070/is_20090...
VERY rare example of "transcribed" radio spots for a local business (who knows how many hundreds of these kind of discs, produced for other businesses in different regions, exist these days?). The first spot was "rejected" for some reason- that's why the grooves were "soaped out" {the station manager probably insisted at one point, "Don't play THIS one!!"}.
