  • I'm the first one to view it!! Kind of sad in a way, that tree has probably been there for 100 years, and now...not.

  • @Ms2blue1pink True...but the land is slated for development so it is exciting that it will be decorated and on display for the world to see in Chicago this holiday season instead of just being ground up for mulch.

  • "Slated for development". That's a sad excuse if I've ever heard one. The lot was huge. There was plenty of room for both a business and a happy, healthy, beautiful tree that's stood tall for more than most of us have been alive, and which could have lived another 100+ years. The county, city, owners of the land, and anyone else involved in this dropped the ball big time where doing the right thing is concerned. Our actions are born of our values, and this action spoke volumes.
