Born on March 29, 1867 in Gilmore, Ohio, Denton True "Cy" Young is remembered as one of Major League Baseball's greatest pitchers. Inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1937, Young retired with a record 511 career wins. After his death the Cy Young Award was created to honor the previous season's best pitcher.
Great post! As TRUE baseball fan and former Dodger batboy (1968), you have to love this. Amazing (and forgotten by most) that pitching and hitting stats have been recorded back to before the 20th century. A great game... Our game.
