Lyrics:

Would you like to meet the villain somewhere
Underneath the skull of a moon
Fire burned his eyes out
Cause his chains are too long for you
Someone has to pay for the damage done
No one's gonna love you now
Your whole family's splintered
You're a slave to it all now
You're a slave to it all now
You're a slave

Welcome down to paradise rock
There is no single entrance
With the stars to revolve around
There is no real underground

No stars to revolve around
Here, they're fashioning the noose
Sickened by the knell of the graveyard bell
You know it's not long for you
Sick of all the vomit childhood
Not a trampoline for the freaks
Not even a slave to your father
Oh, you're a slave to it all now
Oh, you're a slave to it all now

Welcome down to paradise rock
There is no single entrance
There's no stars to revolve around
There is no real underground
Slave, slave
You're a slave to it all now

Happy
Happy
Happy
Happy
Happy
Happy
Happy
Happy
Happy
Happy
Happy.

  • it's so weird to think these songs are incomplete, if this was an album that jeff put out with his own will, i would be completely satisfied, these songs are epic and are complete masterpieces and to think jeff would have done so much more with it, with more time and a band. but what we have is more than enough to be satisfied with. these songs have phenomenal structure and jeff's range is impeccable in this and all other recordings. what a fucking phenom

  • @BoddhasServants I believe Jeff Buckley was a genius with a borderline personaliy disorder (he told people he was bipolar) haunted by his father's abandonment, the stress with the record deal all leading to an unrecognizable state (his friends in interviews). So where was his 'girlfriend' and why didn't the people who said he wasn't himself get him some help -- I mean psychiatric. Why did his drummer, Matt Johnson, leave right after the New Zealand tour?

  • @Talulah6 what do u mean he needed help?

  • This sounds like John Lennon at first - this is too painful, he sounds psychotic. No one recognized that he needed HELP?

  • Not hard to believe that this was the last song he recorded before he died. You can tell something was amiss in his life as his music gradually became darker and less defined by his perfectionist slant.

  • its sorta like meteors falling

  • Jeff Buckley was fucking amazing. This seemingly discordant and chaotic song upon first listen actually has structure and grace to it that makes it one of the coolest songs of all time.

  • this is actually creeping me out a lot...i love his music but this song leaves a really unsettled feeling in me...

  • @BlackChipmunkParade ....... Dude, Jeff's definatly on the goods here, and many layers, he's stumbelling threw the words like a tortured soul, you can hear it in his voice hes not with it, nor without it ! but his still off his face ..... comfortably waisted, i dont believe he would have ever put this out there on an album for his fans to listen too!, without a bonus acid trip ....... just my opinion, and i love the bloke!

With all those layers of sound and everything? No, I don't think so.

I think he died in the middle of this CD, and it was well documented that nearly every song was unfinished when he did it.
