I've always loved this video. ESPN's video boffins are second to none, and you could see that they poured their heart and soul into this one. (Thanks also go to ESPN's management for opening the pursestrings to get the song and video clips that ESPN/ABC Sports *didn't* already own!)
It's too bad there wasn't an Emmy category for this to win--except that they'd have had to retire the category afterwards, because nothing would ever match it.

nah, Mario and Maris appear for the lyrics: All these lines in my face getting clearer. which is a reference to these athletes who aged visibly while in the public eye. The former due to age, the latter due to stress.
Maravich, Bias, Flo-Jo etc. appear for the lyrics: The past is gone.
Which is a reference to their untimely passings...
