7 months, 7000 km on a camel to cover the Great Silk Road

It seems that tireless traveler Fyodor Konyukhov has seen it all. Not quite, he says, as he has just started a new expedition which will cover the ancient Great Silk Road. RT caught up with Fyodor Konyukhov ahead of the seven-month journey.

How misinformed about the silk road history this Russian has. Traditionally, silk road started during the han dynasty and reached its heigh and gloryt during the Tang dynasty, long before even Genghis Khan came to conquer almost the whole of Eurasia. It started from ancient Chang An (now known as Xi an) during the Han dynasty and ended in ancient Arabia(Turkey now?), but some contended that it extended even further to acnient Rome. Of course, this is just one of the few routes taken.

Its a cultural shock, how these people spend years planning, while some Millionaires plan a silk road tour in a weekend, then drive around Asia with a local guide, sleeping at 5 star hotels and resorts.
