wow what excellant rendition of this song. otis day and his group are superb performing this but john did it true justice.makes me wanna get up and move as much as otis version. and thats saying something as im white and have no rythm at all. lol.

I have heard that this song also appeared on a VHS release of a live Mellencamp performance. Does anyone have any info on this? I believe it was called "Check It Out-Live!" but I'm not certain.

If there's one song John's Mercury label missed the boat on, it's this song. There's no doubt it should have been released, and he should play it at his concerts. It would EASILY have been a top 20 song. It did not need to be a B side. It is also impossible to find other than on the flip side of "Cherry Bomb", And because it's vinyl and a flip side of a heavily played record, most times the Shama Lama Ding Dong side is pretty beat up. .

To FullMoon: Just to try to be helpful, I'm pretty sure the lyrics are "You put the ooo mau mau back into my smile, child." Nonsense lyrics in some ways but you get the point and it becomes are very cool tune!
