Johnny Knee sat in on piano with the Blue Nights for a few numbers during this Boxing Day session and contibuted to a swinging if rather noisy (including the audience) event.

In 1991 Mac Randle had a Chicago Style jazz band with the Soprano Sax leading instead of the usual Trumpet. The band played weekly at the Princethorpe Club, a popular jazz venue between Coventry and Rugby. The Bechet influence is obvious but absolutely no attempt to seek comparisons.

This particular Boxing Day session was indeed a very busy and noisy affair but we all enjoyed the festive spirit. Quite a few visiting musicians stopped by and had a blow.

Recorded by Bill Torrance on Boxing Day 1991 at the Princethorpe Club and recently processed by Midnitesun with further editing by Remsys.
