@refich I havent finished.. keep reading. Roberts was handsome, and had a good voice. I liked Bonanza. He traveled extensively. He was bored., he didn't need the money. His wives kept him. He didn't like Trader John. He wanted to be another Tyrone Power on the BIG screen. How do I know? I know one of his wives. They appeared at the funeral to respect the dead. He did nothing for them. They did much for himself. So what? Check out Power and his films. Now there was a man. Caio.

@refich Who said I despise Pernell Roberts. If I had been him, I would probably have done the same thing. After Bonanza, he made films overseas. He did many "guest" shots on many programs. Nothing meaningful until Trader John. And he didn't even like that. He said " I have to pay the rent and eat..thats why I am doing this." What I was referring to, was the idiotic behavior of the responders about this worship of a man who did nothing more than complain. Bonanza is shown for 50 years.

Vera was his 1st wife. She was NOT rich when they married but later became a professor at Hunter College. She was 9 years older than Pernell. He did NOT live off his next 2 wives (one of whom he was married to for +20 years). His LAST wife was a Psychologist. Both his ex-wives came to a memorial for him & had good things to say. I HAVE NEVER heard him referred to as a womanizing gigolo EVER! This tribute was for him not anyone else. Why did you come here if you despised Pernell so much?

@1950kathryn why would you want me to lighten up? Look at the work and talent among others who are hardly mentioned. John Denver, John Wayne, James Stewart, Ronald Coleman, Lawrence Olivier, etc etc. I see no music or words of love spewing all over the screen, for these talented persons. Stewart had one wife and a dog named Beau. Does anybody mention his book of poetry that he wrote? Hmmm?

Pernell had 4 wives. He died before the last one divorced him. She still lives in Malibu. Her name is Vera Mowry Roberts. Clinical Psychologist. The oither 3 were also very wealthy women. Why would he stay on Bonanza, when he lived the high life in Malibu, and traveled all over the globe with each of them. He loved himself more than any woman. Check it out, and stop mourning for a womanizing gigolo.

If one reads songs of Solomon...you will find the words that Roberts was repeating.

Seems strange because the personality of this man, is very much like the actor Sean Connery. He also matured with the same handsomness, bestowed upon Pernell Roberts.

He also had a very pronounced voice, and the same gentleness and the fervor of anger when neccessary. But we must remember. These are actors with voice training, and an arrogance that brought them into motion pictures.
