but it is not compassion, the act of suffering together.

the example of Haiti is a good one. with technology the world may empathize, but that does not mean it was compassionate.

empathy without compassion is moral self-indulgence.

@unclefrodo1 Utopia is the state of no suffering, since humans are mortal beings, suffering is inevitable. Although increased levels of empathy would indeed make the world a better place.
