8 is my favorite by far, i played 6 7 8 9 and 10.. and this one just got me, idont know why people dislike 8 because it isnt 6 or 7, but i loved all the music, junction system, cinematics, card games, the tons of sidequests.. Legendary game.. to bad the newer FF's are not like 6 to 10.. ( i havent played 1 to 5 )

With the exception 7, 8 is the best in the series and better than 6 by far and away. FF8 had one of the most near perfect story's and scores in gaming history with the exception of like I said number 7.

Unfortunately you are right.. In a world where gamers standards begin to shun pixelated visuals...

Dude, in a world with FFXIII and FFXIII-2, we should not be squabbling over which pre-ps3 Final Fantasy is the best. We should instead collectively appreciate the fact that we were all around to embrace the classics in all their glory. We are all united in our affection for this series, but let's not do it an injustice with petty arguments about 4v5v6v7v8v9v10 in this day and age. There will come a time, when we no longer have the luxury of arguing which is best, because nobody will remember.

1:49 - 2:14 Beautiful. The music needs more moments like this....

-Relighting the ever burning flame of FF8 fans-

Absolutely agree with Smoke. Have to say it is my favourite FF. Junction was an elite system. Cinematic were the first of its calibre. Story was engulfing. And Triple Triad was the best side game ever.

Plus, now the soundtrack is gaining exponential nostalgic value.

I feel like I'm having a really, really bad LSD trip every time I listen to this.

Almost like time and space is mixing into a huge mess and I lose track of time and my whole sense of existence.

There isn't really a 'best' though is there. There are just favourites. 6,7 and 9 are all more popular than 4,5,8 and 10. Doesn't mean the latter titles are worse in terms of quality and originality, it just means more people prefer certain titles than others. Noone can really say which is the best. As far as I remember Square said their favourite was IX, but they didn't say it was the best title, they just liked it the most.

Continued: a great villain with a few unexpected twists. uses 5 characters unlike its predecessors which all used 4. Would really recommend IV. V is a game I feel is very underrated. Fun job class system, likable characters, badass villain, and the first final fantasy to introduce superbosses with Omega and Shinryu proving very hard opposition to even the prepared challengers. 1-6 were the medieval FF's, 7+8 were more futuristic, 9 went back to its original medieval roots.

I haven't played 3 as I have it on the ds and didn't want to change console just to play 3 (currently playing through 1,2,4,5,6,7,8 on the psone and onto 9 next) but I is more of an exploring dungeon crawler, with minimal dialogue. This is where it all started. II has a tedious stat growth system, but more dialogue and a final boss who's the main villain throughout. IV is quite perfect, terrible graphics unless you're playing the ds version, but lots of dialogue, interesting story and
