Even tho Mike Butler shot this vid with a crummy cell-phone, he forgot 2 lite his candle, which is why it's so dark. This shot started off being very adequately lit, because it was going to be a still photo, with flash illumination, but the switch on the point-n-shoot camera was flipped to movie mode, so Mike just went with it since George was talking. All of Mike's Lowel Totas and Omnis were sitting 100 miles away, as there was never any intention to create a video. In fact, even taking pictures was an afterthought, as there was plenty else to do.

Now, if Mike's and George's positions had been reversed, the scene would not have been backlit (the real problem here) let alone underexposed, so you would have been much happier. What is amazing is that the dialogue was fairly intelligible amid all the ambient crowd noise, given the audio was just the little pinhole mic in the (still photo) camera. If Mike were shooting video, there would have at least been a lav mic on the talent.
