Former FBI agent Rep. Mike Rogers (MI-8) discusses the dangerous decision by the Obama Justice Department to read Miranda rights to suspected terrorists. Text of Rep. Rogers video can be read below:

Hello, Im representative Mike Rogers of Michigan. After Islamic radicals killed nearly 3,000 American on September 11th, our nation had an important decision to make: Do we treat this horrendous attack as a crime or an act of war?

The collective decision by lawmakers was that this was an act of war. Thankfully, President Obama agrees.

Or does he? I recently learned that the Obama Justice Department is reading Miranda rights to foreign terror suspects as a part of their Global Justice Initiative.

As a former FBI agent I want to tell you that this is nuts. By granting foreign fighters protections normally reserved for US citizens, we are faced with the possibility that they will game the American legal system and return to the battlefield.

The threat of terrorism is an issue of our national security, not law enforcement.

  • The irresponsibility and incompetence of this radical administration never fails to amaze me! In what world would this even make sense? Obama has already broken many promises since taking office. We need to make sure this broken promise, which would put our nation's security at risk, is one we won't allow him to break!

  • Foreign or Domestic Terrorist if caught engaging in acts of war against civilians do not deserve protection under our laws. They are terrorist and should be treated as such. If it is an American or Domestic terrorist it is treason to our country and they should be put to death under our federal law.

  • This is not to say we should not detain potential terrorists, i just think we should know for certain before they are treated like dirt

  • The key word is "suspects". I haven't seen the full clip of Obama but i find it unlikely that he said someone suspected of terrorism deserves no rights. He was far more likely referring to actual terrorists. Unless there is proof or substantial evidence that they are guilty the suspect should be given every right given to anyone else until enough evidence can be supplied. I think it is important to stop murderers, but ignoring rights because of what we suspect someone did just seems wrong.

  • @wolvarine35

    Agreed

"Pity for the Guilty is treason to the innocent" -Ayn Rand

  • I say interrogate them, get the knowledge, and instead of giving them the sweet release of death, chuck them into Gitmo where they belong.

People don't kill people willingly and indiscriminately, Monsters kill willingly and indiscriminately, and Monsters do not deserve human rights, and should be treated as monsters, and Monsters should be hunted, and eliminated.

  • now time for a sane comment.

contrary to you "terrorist chic" kids that've never done anything that matters. i have seen these "innocent" terrorists. and i agree they should have swift justice. but it should come from the barrel of my M4. why do you idolise this scum anyway seeing as they want no less than the death of everyone that isn't part of their organisation?

  • stop being so bloody insular and think about people that aren't American you small minded bigoted halfwitted brainwashed egotistical bible bashing god fearing fear mongering pitiful cretins

  • the patriot act is worded so that anyone that the government says is a terrorist (without any probable cause or evidence) can be detained and questioned without any rights. this guy better hope that obama doesnt want to lock him away for the rest of his life. He is speaking out against the government durning war time the patriot act is still in effect.

  • But American prisoners don't get treated humanly, isn't that a violation of the Geneva Convention?

  • Of course this is the way Americans do things. Which is why I am cheering our demise. America died in the Civil War when Lincoln fought for a more centralized government and won. Personally, I think that JFK was the first real president we've had since Andrew Jackson, and also the last one as well. We are the wicked witch of the west, long will she suffer and deservedly so for her sins. I cannot wait for the people to finally grow a pair and we revolt as we should hae done so long ago.
