@Strefanasha we are not saved inspite of catholic doctrine. that doctrine teaches salvation by faith in Jesus through the eucharist. read john 6, 54-60. thats exactly what the church demonstrates and believes during every mass. so if cathoilics believe that, and im certain most, if not all do, then, yes, they are saved. so am i.
@servant1580 well said. of course thehy do not, for they think that theiur sounder doctrine (no offense intended) gives them licence to hate catholics, for as scripture says "knowledge puffs up" and the protestants, we protestants, are puffed up by our knowledge.
that being so our knowledge will do us no good for our fruit will damn us, even our anti catholics fruit
some catholics are saved for they would believe in the Son despite catholic doctrine.
THe big question is are evangelical protestants saved?
the same answer, more or less. SOME ARE , but the rest simply believe a doctrine not the Person the doctrine talks about. if they say the words without the prompting of the Holy Spirit they are not born again
i dont want to start a religion war or any type of endless discussion, mainly because we believe in the same God... but what about other doctrines that catholics have? the rosary, worship to Mary, baptism to little children, the sacraments, the purgatory, prayer to good dead people or "saints"? do these have biblical reference and support or are only tradition? i really want to know about these things
@tabog002 the word hell means Hades or Sheol, the collective abode of the dead, divided into Paradise or Abraham's Bosom--the state of God-fearing souls--and Gehenna, the state of ungodly souls. Thus the descent into hell suggests that the Son of God carried the sins of the world to hell; or the Son of God carried Good News of deliverance to the godly dead such as Lazarus the beggar and the repentant thief.
The resulting "nativist" movement, which achieved prominence in the 1840s, was whipped into a frenzy of anti-Catholicism that led to mob violence, the burning of Catholic property, and the killing of Catholics.[28] For example, the Philadelphia Nativist Riot, Bloody Monday, the Orange Riots in New York City in 1871 and 1872,[29] and the Ku Klux Klan-ridden South discriminated against Catholics..from Anti catholicism-wikipedia.
