I loved Carol Drinkwater as Helen and was so disappointed when Linda Bellingham took over the role. It would have been preferable to adapt the stories to have James Herriot divorcing Helen and remarrying a character second wife played by Linda. I just couldn't accept the change of actresses.

good wan , i love all thats about all creatures great and small but why did CAROL leave and Linda came on board, cant get used to her cos carol had more of a chemistery with james, its rerun on our irish channel at one pm, i watch it everydday ,,its as far as linda first came on the scene, yesterday the two went of to war and left Helen and mrs HALL and Triss to look after the place, then to day linda appears with two kids girl and boy with posh voices, and no mrs Hall. she was great ,...
