A winter storm sweeping into the UK from the Atlantic has brought wind gusts across parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland of up to 80mph and could increase further through Thursday.
The Met Office has issued several weather warnings for the wind and accompanying snow, including the most severe, a Red Weather Warning, because some of the strongest winds are expected even at lower levels in densely populated areas.
BBC Weather's Sarah Keith-Lucas looks in detail at the track and timing of the storm.
