The Lockheed F-104 Starfighter is a single-engine supersonic interceptor aircraft that served with the USAF from 1958 until 1967, and the first combat aircraft capable of sustained speeds above Mach 2. A highly inovative plane designed by Kelly Johnson to meet demands generated by the Korean war, it featured many design firsts. Music: Massive Attack - Teardrop

It was an air-superiority fighter, meant for fighter vs fighter daytime combat. It was outperforming anything but also did maneuver quite good, depending no the speed (when you're flying mach 1.5, even pulling 9 g's in a turn will require "half of Texas") The revolutionnary '6-gun' Vulcan 20mm canon was developped indeed fot the Starfighter, which says it all about its mission.
If used, they would have made a legend in North Vietnam...
(p.s We French did suffer as many losses with the Mirage)
Thanks for this nice video. I myself flew the F-104G in NAW2 for the German Navy as combat ready pilot for many years. Unfortunately there were a lot of technical problems within this outstanding airplane, which led to many fatal crashes. But also a lot of so called "pilot errors" led to the high number of accidents. There was simply no room for a mistake, the plane did not allow the slightest mistake by the pilot whatsoever... But for me and all F-104 pilots: this was the best plane ever. Buddy
