Samudra

http://www.samuivillasandhomes.com/samui-luxury-villa-76.html

Villa Samudra is located in Laem Set, on Samui's un-spoilt southern coast.

The villa sits on a rocky hillside that sweeps down to a very private beach.

Natural tropical landscaping and large granite rock formations provide the backdrop for this luxurious property.

Inside, stepping-stone paths and heavy tree trunks link the various buildings, leading you from one surprise to another.

The large, stone-tiled infinity swimming pool provides superb views of the ocean, and is a tranquil centre-piece to the villa's creative design.

The Bali room has natural stone bases, supporting enormous antique wooden pillars on either side of the mediaeval-style doors.

A large, vaulted ceiling covers the first building, with two double bedrooms divided by a corridor.

Reclaimed wood was used to create the unique door frames and windows, collected from all over Asia.

The bedrooms are furnished with wooden, antique pieces, while original Chinese and Indian doors and windows add to the rustic ambience.

Both bedrooms benefit from ensuite bathrooms, one of them built around the existing natural rock formations.

Two more double bedrooms can be found in another set of raised buildings.

Chinese doors open into a unique bathroom which incorporates a shower that pours from a giant granite boulder and also a free-standing terrazzo bath tub.

The kitchen is a stand-alone unit with all you would expect in terms of modern equipment.

The open, airy design comes the added bonus of antique cabinets and exceptional views.

The Octagonal Room is a large living area in an open-sided room, with a kitchen at one side and a balcony that encircles the entire space.

This allows you to look out across the beach and sea to the surrounding islands.

Another living area can be found in a separate building, which houses extraordinary indoor Balinese Temple panels.

Surrounding these are comfortable sofas and Indonesian carved wooden doors, which almost make you feel you are in an old pagoda or palace.

Sumudra boasts private beach access, while under the main buildings, literally carved out of the hill, there's an underground suite with double bed, kitchenette and bathroom.

This hidden suite also has a pull-down screen and ceiling-mounted projector with surround sound to enjoy movies in style.

The outdoor sala houses a unique, one-piece dining table that can easily seat up to 24 people .

The piece was actually recovered from a shipyard in Southern Thailand, and personifies the antiquity within this unique Samui property.

This luxuriously appointed villa is just 40 minutes from the airport and downtown Chaweng, but a world away from the stresses of daily life.

A true tropical gem, Samudra's design, furnishings and exquisite antique touches make for a sensational vacation retreat.
