magyarul lsd. lentThe Bükk mountains of Borsod county (among other parts of the region) have (had) a great tradition of lime burning. In the past there lime kilns were a common sight, dotted around the villages in the heart of the Bükk region, and even as far out as Lillafüred, on the outskirts of Miskolc. Today, one or two kilns are still fired, at the most. This recording was made in the summer of 2003.
------------------------------------------A borsodi Bükkben (is) nagy hagyománya van (volt) a mészégetésnek. Régebben lépten-nyomon lehetett találkozni mészkemencékkel a Bükk belsejében lévő falvak környékén, de Miskolc Lillafüred közelében is. Ma már alig egy-két boksát gyújtanak. Ezt a felvételt 2003 nyarán készítettük.

Hello, we are the lime producers by traditional technology from Estonia and we started to the establishing on lime kilns park. we have in 10 ha about 15 old limekilns and some kilns are worked last 60 years. Do you have some information more about old lime kilns in Hungary? How many kilns still working? limex@limex.ee
