A brief video of my first experiments with a Tesla coil kit that I bought from www.nuovaelettronica.it

Unfortunately my camera can't capture the beautifulness of the sharp lightnings this coil can make, they're really wonderful!

here's an insight of the transformer: http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/8341/p4160408resizedyc4.jpg

  • I heard that in order for it to be an actual teslacoil you'd need white sparks instead of purple. No idea why, but does anyone know if there is any truth to this?

  • @Lleanlleawrg I think it's because of the ozone but can't tell that for sure!

  • How about bringing a grounded rod close to it

  • @Centrifugalsparks tried that one, and got 30cm bolts!

  • @Lleanlleawrg who ever told you that does not know what they are talking about, a tesla coil is a high voltage resonate transformer, solid state tesla coils can produce yellow sparks.

Yeah, I understand that now. Comment was posted when I was sort of new and a dipshit about electricity. Much better understanding now.

  • @KittyRokher

a solid state tesla coil does not h ave a spark gap

  • Now you know what they say about guys with big tesla coils right?
