Settled in a Swamp screened at UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen
Knight Center for International Media and the Red Cross/Red Crescent Climate Centre have joined hands in the production of a short film depicting the impact of climate change and urbanization on the lives of the poor in Senegal. The film is set in Pikine a large neighborhood of Dakar that has sprouted on the flood plain as a consequence of the fast urbanization since the 1970s
The purpose of this short film is to share the voices of the poorest sections of society in an effort to demonstrate the impact of changing rainfall patterns on the lives of the large numbers of people in Africa who have migrated from the countryside to urban centers to make a living said Sanjeev Chatterjee, executive director of the Knight Center.
The film, titled Settled in a Swamp is directed by Trevor Green of the Knight Center for International Media and Pablo Suarez of the Climate Centre with production support from El Hadji NDaye of the Dakar Media Center.
