I went to Robin Hood's Bay last week in Scarborough. I brought a hammer & chisel with me. I found some really good fossils, 2 out of all of them were ammonites! Great find. Was yours just embedded in or was it an actual full shell?

wonderful places and wonderful layers , one of the best places in europe for looking for ammonites .

rarity totally depends on the species of ammonite....it would be best if you had it looked at by a specialist.

just last week i was down in lyme regis and over the course of two days managed to find eight icthyosaur vertebra and four ammonites. as well as a multitude of other specimens. apart from belemnites ammonites are the most common fossil on the beaches of lyme

After leaving Morrisons Earlier I was looking at a large Flower bed covered in mud and I saw and found a large fragment of Ammonite about 3 inchs long!

Fossils are everywhere. I saw one in a slab of marble the other day... keep your eyes open and you'll keep discovering them.
