The raining frogs represent "divine intervention".

Wow. I would have never thought of pairing any Coldplay song (though I do like the band) with this film, but it works wonderfully! Yes. This is PTA's best film and my all-time favorite! Say what you will about Mr. Tom "Crazy" Cruise, but he was ROBBED from the best supporting actor Oscar by Sir. Michael "anyone can slap on a fake American accent" Caine. 'Magnolia' is a masterpiece by a master filmmaker!

simply...it happens

Just before the frogs rain down the cop drives past a shop saying "Everything Must Go" on the side - there after everything changes, the characters decide to make a change, confession, make amends, big decisions. Everything is being 'righted' - everyone's problems seem to be solved, or at least more clearly defined so they can attempt to re-build, come to terms with everything.

The movie is mainly concerned with destiny, fate, love, pain, life & death, and the sometimes strange & unusual occurrences that unite us all. The raining frogs are never explained in the film. The event simply happens - and like life itself; the reasons are left for you to decide on. (At least that's my take on it.)

I always love the film but I didn't know this Coldplay song until I saw this video. Thank you for editing. Makes a lot of sense and it combines with the characters and their situations. Paul Thomas Anderson's best film!
