The St Davids Day Express steam train pulls out of Cardiff Central. The engine is GWR Castle Class 4-6-0 No. 5051, 'The Earl of Bathurst'. It ran from Swansea to Didcot and returned later from Paddington to Swansea. Filmed with my camera phone, apologies for slight blur

  • Dude! this is pretty good for a camera phone! What phone did you use? Are nothing beats the sound of a Castle...and yeah loads of us stick our heads out of the windows :P We do it all the time!!! wb

  • Hi there

I use a Nokia N80 - 3 megapixel camera, not bad imagery. First time I'd ever seen a steam train 'for real', only ever seen them parked up in a museum previously... I guess I'll see more in the future though, seeing as I work within the industry.

  • leaning out the window, half the fun on a train!

  • i thought i should point out that there is another railtour coming through Cardiff on April 14th. Look out for 6024 King Edward I.

  • Wicked! Did you know the train ended up being 50mins late on arrival at Paddington? And also it was suppose to stop at Reading, but it went through at about 50mph! and left one man very angry because he wanted to catch the train!! lol! Was not a good day for mainline steam sadly :( Are you are University in Cardiff? wb. David
