Howto: Flash BIOS on Acer Aspire One

I recently had the Black Screen Of Death so I tried to Flash the BIOS and it worked again!

Download the BIOS from: http://zhuk.in/1u1

1: Extract the .ZIP
2: Rename the Bios name from 3309.fd to zg5ia32.fd
3: Copy zg5ia32.fd and Flashit.exe to USB flash drive.
4:
A: Make sure the power cable is in!
B: The laptop is turned OFF!
C: Plug the USB stick in!

Press and HOLD down
the FN and ESC key
TOGETHER

Then press the power
button, Whilst holding
the buttons!

Release the power button
and continue holding
FN and ESC for about 5
seconds.

Release the buttons
and the power light
will start to blink.

Let the laptop run and
DO NOT press anything
This can take upto 7 mins

When it's done the laptop
will restart.

It should now work :D

Dear joecox406,

I recently encountered the "black screen and laptop is only activating the fan every once in a while " on an ACER Travelmate 2483WXMI: FLASHIT isn't included in the current ACER BIOS downloads anymore; now "WINPHLASH" is distributed. Can you please tell me if your procedure might work using Winphlash instead of Flashit; will the BIOS image still have to be renamed to ZG5IA32.FD or did this change as well?

@wm00011 I'll have to take a look at that and see if it's similar. And ZG5IA32 is for that specific model - the Aspire one AOA110/150 ZG5. For yours the name will be different. I'll get back to you in a bit.

@horsemen601 Sorry it wont, you'll have to download the file for the 5515. This is for AOA110/150 - ZG5 only.

Hey I have a Acer aspire 4810t and when I start it up it is just white screen though I can't hear the windows start jingle. what should I DO? help please

@lugeperson Your model is different but if you try getting the bios files for that laptop and following the guide for that version you should be ok. Don't use this bios on yours as it could potentially damage it further.

Hi: I have a 532h-2588 with black screen of death. Bought a 16GB Patriot Xporter XT memory stick, formatted it using FAT32 (only FAT option), copied and renamed files, etc. The power button never blinks on and off after releasing Fn and Esc; the Acer doesn't seem to be accessing the files on the memory stick. Do you have any advice?

then i tried pressing power and it does not turn on .....
