Joyce Baker, the real Queenslander telling her story on this video, lost her life savings in a mortgage scheme.
The man who was supposed to protect investors like Joyce was Mark McArdle.
He was a partner, director and shareholder in a firm called Boyce Garrick. He was listed in the prospectus as being responsible for ensuring ongoing compliance within the Scheme requirements. Joyce and hundreds of Queenslanders, many of them elderly trusted Mr McArdle to look after them and their money. They lost everything.
While Joyce struggled to put her life back together, and Mr McArdle's partner in the scheme got struck off the solicitor's roll, Mr McArdle ran for Queensland State Parliament with the LNP.
Now he is the Deputy Leader. He is the man Lawrence Springborg will make Deputy Premier if the Nationals win the Queeensland election on March 21.
