Another great hit from 1979 that isn't given its due by oldies stations.

  • No, Mr. Trashcan, not Burlington NJ or elewhere... I'm a railroad buff and the "Burlington" refers to the old Chicago, Burlington & Quincy" (famous for the Zephyr) or "Burlington Route"...also what the "B" stands for in its modern-day descendent, "BNSF". My great-grandfather worked for them, and I've always been a fan (just like with the Beach Boys). Now you know :-)

  • @burlingtonbill1 I know it well. CB&Q, then BN, now BNSF. Been a railroad buff and model railroader since childhood. I grew up with the eastern roads in PA like Reading, PRR, B&O and CNJ. Nobody in my family ever worked for a railroad or even had an interest. I must have been infected at a very early age. Are you a modeler?

  • When this BBs song came out, it was astounding as a long-lost harmony sound by The Boys. In that context, it was largely regarded by many expert, longstanding fanatic followers of the band - at that time - that THIS SONG constituted their BEST piece of sweet-harmony work in a decade. It still stands the test of time today. And we need to hold on to it, as anything else that'd be precious to us, because this pure, peerless harmony calibre of sound will never ever be created again in the future.

  • @colindominy I'm with you when it comes to voices in harmony. That's why it's one of my favorites.

  • @rpm88able Sir, I have 2 sources : 1. My own ear --from the very 1st, the song sounded like Carl, all the way. 2. Good friend, who knows more BB info. than I ever will, & who lives in Colo., knows people at Caribou. This was not done at Miami, where the group attempted to do much of what eventually appeared on " LA -LIGHT"--this was done by Carl, fed-up with BW's erratic singing & the disasters of " Big Ones " & " Love You"--total bombs, especially BW's singing. Wolfsky9

  • @Wolfsky9 That's very interesting. But where did you get that from?

  • too short!!!

  • @colindominy Uhhh, I am truly sorry to say this, but it needs to be done: this is NOT==NOT, The BB's. This is Carl Wilson! Lead, Falsetto, Backgrounds, & instruments! Listen--just listen closely. In '79, Carl wanted the B oys to do this, but he could not get everyone together, & BW was so erratic in his singing, that At Caribou Recorders, he did it all --ALL-- himself. Just Listen closely--tell me who's Falsetto that is. Wolfsky9

  • Their best harmonies, in my opinion... Thanks for posting !!

  • @colindominy I actually enjoy the LA Album. Not groundbreaking or amazing but pretty at times and very relaxing. Except for that stupid disco song. Oh well. The real horrors int he band only came after that album.

  • I was living in Albuquerque when this came out.

    Kirtland Air Force Base.

Man, I love hearing the music, but I really don't miss that place.

Must find the rest of that album now.

  • Song was so underrated,,a shame excellent..RWB
