I think I like this better than The Black Cat. I feel Lugosi is best when playing villains, and Karloff is at his best when playing tortured misfits. This film provides both.

@KHwhitelion You can't watch it anywhere for free and its pissing me off. I'm gonna have to ask my mom to get it for me, which sucks ass.

here's a triple bill i'd like to see:
murders in the rue morgue, which takes place in the 1840's
the black cat, takes place in the 13's but with direct references to ww1
the raven, set squarely in the 1930's
the lugosi-poe trilogy in order of occurance, if not production.

bela lugosi is my husband!

The Angry Video Game Nerd says that Lugosi's performance as Dr. Volin is probably Lugosi's best... even better than Dracula, I actually see what he means.

Horror novel see video book trailer
I've seen this film hundreds of times since the mid 60s...can't seem to tire of it.
Arguably one of Lugosi's finest screen performances ever.
I dare say it's the cornerstone of his career.
And this...your version of a 'Trailer', is SUPERB !
I now watch this and I'm totally satisfied without having (seemingly) missed anything.
I only wish we were neighbors now.....

Just found this video. this is EXCELLENT WORK! My brother and I have been big classic horror movie fans for over 50 years. The Raven is one of our all-time favorites! Your Trailer really compliments this movie! Years ago, we would memorize the lines and scenes and act them out. We had a lot of fun with this movie!! Another of our all-time favorites is "The Strange Door" (1951) with Charles Laughton and Boris Karloff. A true classic from Universal Pictures. Have you seen that one?

@johnwoa,
Thanks so much! No, I have not seen that one.

Masterful! This has always been one of the unfortunate Universals where the trailer has completely vanished, but this is a marvellous substitute. A great representation of a great film in all its sadistic glory!
