After a, well, failed attempt at writing a NES emulator - capable of very badly running Super Mario Bros. and a few other "Mapper 0" games - here's something that's worked out much, much better - a PC Engine (aka TurboGrafx-16) emulator.
Note that, despite being much better than the NES emulator, this one is also still full of bugs - games not booting, games without controls in-game, games with missing graphics, sprite glitches, of course the crappy sound, as well as games without sound whatsoever, etc., etc., etc.
But hey, this was maybe a week of work so far, plus the parts of the CPU core I could lift from the NES project...
(Also, sorry for the bad video quality and stuttering, it's not -as bad- normally, tho the sound emulation currently does cause some slowdown.)
(Also, I suck at Ninja Gaiden. Even Arino is a pro compared to me :P)
i'd like to try n64 emulation.

How does one go about acquiring knowledge of the programming of consoles such as this and the Nes?
